Negative thoughts and wrong interpretation(解釋、闡明) of people's words and actions added to my depression. 使我更加憂鬱。

1. Sara's boss' criticisms and her coworkers lack of support added to her dissatisfaction with her.使她更不滿足。

2. The balloons and lively music added to the party atmosphere. 使party更有氣氛。




add insult to injury 傷害之外又加污辱, 雪上加霜, 更糟的是

1. Adding insult to injury , she threw my gift into the trash . 更糟的是她把我的禮物丟進垃圾筒。

2. His wife had many affairs , even , adding insult to injury , with his best friend . 他的太太有很多的婚外情, 更糟的是跟他最好的朋友。

Depressed people often feel too overwhelmed to ask for help.

overwhelm v:使受不了;使不知所措;使無法承受,通常用被動式 overwhelmed

1. A feeling of isolation overwhelmed her 使她無法承受 when she first moved to the country. 當她剛搬到鄉下。

2. The girl wasn't overwhelmed by her sudden fame and wealth. 沒有被突如其來的名氣財富沖昏頭。



She always greeted me with a warm hug , looked me in the eyes and sincerely asked, "Are you OK?"
This showed she took depression seriously and was willing to listen.

take someone or something seriously:看重 某人/某事


1. Billy takes his acting career 演藝生涯 seriously.

2. Nancy thinks no one here takes her serious. 沒人當她一回事。
